SIX private companies have been declared winners in this year’s Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) Productivity Olympics.
The conduct of the Productivity Olympics is in line with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s declaration of every month of October as the National and Productivity Improvement Month.

Declared winners for this year’s Productivity Olympics were Julie's Bakeshop, Philippine Pioneer Rubber Products Corporation, Pagadian City Springland Resort, Vic Engineering and Drilling Services, Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperative, Incorporated and Zaragoza Foods Corporation.
Dole Zamboanga Peninsula Director Ponciano Ligutom said the Productivity Olympics showcase best practices in improving plant-level productivity, which micro, small and medium enterprises need to survive the current economic downturn.
Ligutom said the winners were awarded plaques during a ceremony held last Thursday in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay that hosted this year’s Productivity Olympics.
Ligutom said the Olympics of good productivity practices were focused on people development and business excellence of MSMEs in the Agribusiness, Service and industry sectors.
This year’s theme of the National and productivity Improvement Month was “Enhancing Quality and Productivity towards Competitiveness.”
Ligutom said the Productivity Olympics was organized by the National Wages and Productivity Commission in coordination with all its Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB). (Bong Garcia)
