Monday, July 21, 2008 Drilon's advice for admin reforms dismissed
MALACAÑANG shrugged off the suggestion of former Senate President Franklin Drilon for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to introduce some reforms in her administration starting with a Cabinet revamp if she intends to recover from her negative 38 net satisfaction rating.
"He's entitled to his opinion," Press Secretary Jesus Dureza said.
Dureza, however, said Arroyo would make necessary decisions that she thinks would be beneficial for the country.
"The President irrespective whether she is popular or unpopular will do what is right for the nation," he said when asked to comment that Arroyo made an immediate appeal for a rollback on diesel prices days after her ratings plunged despite calls for such action had been made by various militant groups in the past.
He, however, appeared miffed that the President received such low ratings when she has been focused on trying to uplift the lives of the Filipinos, including the issues on addressing problems of the country like the high cost of fuel and food.
The net satisfaction rating of the President dropped to negative 38 based on the June 27 to 30 Social Weather Survey (SWS) after 60 percent of the respondents were dissatisfied with Arroyo's performance as against the 22 percent that were satisfied.
The new net rating is a 12-point drop from net negative 26 percent in the first quarter 2008 Survey of March 28 to 31. (JMR/Sunnex)
