Dole set to issue certificates to nursing exams retake passers

THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) starting on Wednesday will issue the certificates to the successful examinees of the December 2007 voluntary retake examination of the June 2006 Nursing Licensure Examinations (NLE).

Labor Secretary Marianito Roque advised the nurses who passed the retake examination of Tests III and V to present their Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) License for them to get their certificates.

The Dole will distribute the proof that they passed the examinations from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Office of the Secretary in Intramuros, Manila.

Roque said those residing outside Metro Manila that would like to claim their certificates through the Dole regional offices should register with the regional office nearest their place of residence or work.

"The Dole central office shall transmit (in batches) the certificates within three days from receipt of notice from the regional office concerned," he said.

Proxy claimants or representatives are required to present an authorization letter, together with the examinee's original PRC License and a photocopy of the License for Dole files.

A total of 1,131 nurses licensed under the June 2007 NLE took the voluntary retake in December and out of that number, 729 or 64 percent passed the exam. The rest (402 or 36 percent) failed to meet the passing grade of at least 75 percent in both Tests III and V.

Roque, however, clarified that the results of the voluntary retake examination will not affect their status as licensed nurses. Those who failed will simply not qualify for US VisaScreen Certificate issued by the US Commission on Graduates of a Foreign Nursing School (CGFNS).

The schedule of release of individual certificates are as follows: Abad to Bendo on May 7, Bergado to Dayawon on May 8, De Guzman to Ganay on May 9, Gantangco to Luna on May 12, Lusis to Paderes on May 13, Padilla to Saloria on May 14, and Samia to Zolina on May 15.

Roque also advised the public to visit their website: http://www.dole.gov.ph if they have queries and for the complete list of the successful examinees. (FP/Sunnex)
