Official eyes more police visibility

THE newly installed Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) officer-in-charge vowed to continue massive police visibility in all city barangays, especially during the holiday season.

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has directed Superintendent Eugenio Espejo, deputy ICPO chief, to conduct vigilant operations against snatchers and hold-uppers in passenger jeepneys and streets especially during nighttime.

Espejo will also submit a plan to Treñas detailing the assignment of personnel and operations during the midnight masses or simbang gabi in all churches in the city. This will secure residents despite the City Government's limiting of streetlight operation during the night.

Espejo said he is very much concerned with police discipline and performance and will not allow policemen to be lax during the holiday season.

The OIC takes over the duties of ICPO Chief Bartolome Tobias who opted to be assigned with the United Nations peacekeeping forces in East Timor. (LCP)
