Monday, July 21, 2008 Most wanted man in Barotac Nuevo nabbed
OPERATIVES of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) arrested the most wanted person in the town of Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo last Friday.
IPPO Director Ricardo Dela Paz identified the wanted person as Francisco "Bebot" Perlas, 43 years old, of Sitio Lamintaw, Barangay Talisay, Barotac Nuevo.
Perlas, caught after 13 years in hiding, is reportedly in the most wanted list of authorities in the town.
Barotac Nuevo police and IPPO Special Operations Group operatives were armed with an arrest warrant against Perlas for the crime of rape. It was issued by Judge Tito Gustilo of the Regional Trial Court sometime in 1995.
Police arrested Perlas last Friday morning inside his house.
The rape incident reportedly happened sometime in 1995 when Perlas allegedly raped a neighbor and fled away to avoid arrest.
After several years Perlas returned to his house, thinking that the complainant is no longer interested in pursuing the case but he was surprised when he was arrested.
Dela Paz said Perlas admitted the crime saying that he is willing to face the charges against him.
