Wednesday, May 07, 2008 Dumaguete City holds second Kabulakan Festival
THE city of Dumaguete will hold the second Kabulakan Festival or Legend of Flowers slated May 16 to 25, said Andre Tumulak from the City Information Office.
Tumulak said activities are lined up for opening day. These are: Container Gardening Competition at the Tourism Office at Quezon park, Opening of Garden Show, and Landscaping Competition at the Quezon Park.
Food Fair and Bazaar and Garden Show of Tropical and Exotic Plants at the Quezon Park will be open during the entire period of the festival.
Other activities include:
* May 17 -- Ballroom Dancing at the Quezon park Kiosk;
* May 19 -- Flower Arrangement Competition, Dish Garden Competition held at the Tourism Office in Quezon Park;
* May 21 -- Bonsai Making Demonstration at the Tourism Office in Quezon Park;
* May 23 -- Fashion Show featuring "Burst" at the El Camino Blanco Bar and Restaurant.
* May 24 -- Parade of the Stars at 3 p.m., street dancing at 4 p.m. on the city streets, followed by 5 p.m. showdown at the City Hall quadrangle with boys.com, and includes Polo Ravales, Joseph Bitangcol, Gabb Drilon, Alwyn Uytingco, Frank Gracia, and Bangs Garcia.
Tumulak said the festival culminates May 25 with a fireworks display and ballroom dancing at the Quezon Park grounds. (SGR)
