Sunday, October 29, 2006 Bombings, human rights violation to the fullest: police By Rachel M. Nessia
THE provincial police office said the recent bombings perpetrated by terrorists and killings by communist terrorists of Armed Forces and police personnel as well as civilians including Civilian Armed Forces Geographic Unit (Cafgus) are human rights violations to the fullest.
Superintendent Alet Virtucio, chief of the PNP provincial office operations section, said the most recent violation of human rights committed by communist terrorists was last September 6 when three unidentified men believed to be terrorist dissidents killed Julwar Gantalao in Sitio Bunacan, Barangay Mandalapaton, La Libertad.
He said investigations revealed that Gantalao was a military asset and an ex-Cafgu.
The victim was inside his house when the killers shot him and fled.
Virtucio said the dissidents have been relentless in spreading fear to cow the people who have stood against them or refused to give in to their terrorist activities.
Many vital installations and establishments have been damaged and hampered while normal operations of businesses and other economic entities have been disrupted, said Virtucio.
