Oilers in Quezon final; Buddies advance in Cebu
QUEZON -- Host Quezon Red Oilers, slick when the situation demanded it, posted a come-from-behind thriller over the Ilocos Bravehearts, 78-72, Saturday to advance to the final of the northern leg of the Liga Pilipinas Tour elimination phase at the Quezon Convention Center here.
The Red Oilers, aching to join the elite circle of leg winners to jack up their Tour points, will face the winner of the semifinals game between Misamis Oriental Meteors and Baguio Victory.

Over at the New Cebu Coliseum, the Pampanga Buddies coasted to their third straight leg finals, routing the Trace Laguna Stallions, 104-90, in their semifinal encounter, moving to the championship against the winner of the Zamboanga-Cebu Final Four duel.
Angelus Raymundo, traded by the Stallions for Joseph Lingao-Lingao, led the Red Oilers with 16 points, while Jonel Canizares added 13, and Ramsey Williams 12 points.
Quezon had a slow start, quickly trailing, 12-21, in the first quarter and 30-34 at the half.
The Bravehearts, led by Eder Saldua, was still in command early in the fourth quarter, but suddenly turned cold, allowing the Red Oilers to charge their way back decisively.

Quezon, 78 - Raymundo 16, Canizares 13, Williams 12, Magsumbol 9, Chua 8, Macanig 7, Pinera 7, Mondragon 7.
Ilocos Sur, 72 - Saldua 20, Malabanan 15, Kalaw 13, Hugnatan 12, Castro 4, Cabatu 4, Lopez 1.
