Monday, July 21, 2008 More rains and overcast skies: weather bureau
TWO weather disturbances are now affecting Southern Mindanao and the rest of the island, bringing in rains and overcast skies. Cooler weather is expected with temperatures reaching only a high of 30 degrees Celsius.
Last week, temperatures in Davao City soared to as high as 34 degrees Celsius.
Based on the weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pag-asa), a shallow low-pressure area has been spotted 280 kilometers east of Northern Mindanao, while an Inter Tropical Convergent Zone (ITCZ) is hovering over the entire Mindanao and Visayas regions.
Mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers can be expected in the region, especially during late afternoons and evenings. Thunderstorms will also prevail in the area.
Light to moderate winds blowing from the east and northeast will prevail over the region while coastal waters will be slight to moderate except during thunderstorms.
Temperatures in the region are expected to vary from a high of 30 degrees Celsius to a low of 20 degrees Celsius for the entire week. (CPM)
