Minors hurt in 2 Cebu City shootings

TWO minors were injured in separate shootings in Cebu City over the weekend.

One incident, which took place on Gen. Maxilom Ave., was allegedly carried out by Bloods gang members.

John, 17, was taken to Chong Hua Hospital after he was shot in the back, on the right shoulder.

The police said he was drinking with friends at the vicinity of Mango Square Mall around 12:10 a.m. yesterday when a group of youngsters approached them.

“Peace ta ron, bai (We’re on a ceasefire today, buddy),” one said, which John’s group acknowledged.

After the alleged gang members left, however, gunfire rang out.

John and his companions scampered for safety before he was brought to the hospital for treatment.

At 5:10 p.m. the day before, 16-year-old Peter (real name withheld) was mauled and shot in the head in front of Abellana National High School.

Peter was heading home after delivering siopao to a refreshment parlor along P. del Rosario St. when a group of teenagers approached him and asked questions.

When he allegedly failed to reply, he was mauled and then shot once in the head.

SPO4 Mario Revilla of the Mobile Patrol Group rushed Peter to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment. (JST)
