PB wants Domogan to explain new city charter proposal

THE Benguet Provincial Board (PB) said the Tuba Municipal Government and Baguio Representative Mauricio Domogan should clarify matters regarding the city's new charter, which is feared to embrace portions of the province's land.

Board Member Juan Nazarro Jr. said there is a need for the municipality of Tuba and Domogan to appraise the legislative body regarding the proposed city charter, as there are reports that portions of Tuba's land area will be relinquished to the city.

Nazarro said Baguio City's land area would increase by about 0.6 square kilometers under the new city charter, which is now being deliberated at the House of Representatives.

"We were surprised the hearing for the new city charter is ongoing without our knowledge," Nazarro said, adding that the PB is wondering why Tuba never informed provincial officials regarding the matter.

Tuba officials reportedly attended past hearings on Baguio's new charter proposal in Congress.

He believed the PB should be appraised regarding the issue since the area of Tuba is also a property of the province. He wants the office of Domogan to present the city's technical description.

He said Tuba officials should also appraise the PB regarding the land agreements they entered with Baguio "to protect the interest of the province." (JC)
