THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has awarded certificates of commendations to PO2s Dennis Gabihan, George Bejemino, and Superintendent Antonietto Cañete in Monday's flag raising ceremony at the BCPO.
Gabihan graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree, while Bejemino and Cañete are reviewing for the bar examinations.
The award was in compliance to Philippine National Police (PNP) Circular 2006-014 dated July 10, 2006 or the rules and regulations in the conferment of authorized decorations, service medals, ribbons and badges to the personnel of the PNP; and memorandum from the Directorate for Police Community Relations dated March 26, 2008 or the submission of PCR impact projects, best practices and/or program innovations.
Every year, the Police Regional Office (PRO) Western Visayas has several PNP personnel who have completed their postgraduate studies -- masters or doctorate degrees and Bachelor of Laws.
Although this can be considered a personal achievement of concerned PNP personnel, it also means that said personnel went the extra miles to improve his or her self, making s/he a better member of the organization and more knowledgeable in the field of management/leadership and/or legal matters.
"With their education, these personnel will become assets in our campaign for making the PNP a very effective, efficient, and responsive law enforcement agency not only in the country but also in Asia," said chief of the Regional Public Information Office, Superintendent Ranulfo Demiar, in a memorandum issued April 15 on 'Pagdayaw' (awarding of PNP graduates).
'Pagdayaw' is a Hiligaynon word for "to praise" and aims to recognize the invaluable contribution of the PNP personnel in uplifting the image of the PNP by finishing postgraduate courses and Bachelor of Laws. It also includes the recognition of personnel who have successfully sent all their children to college, whose children have graduated with honors in any academic level (elementary, high school, college, post-graduate studies) or passed the bar examinations, medical board examinations or other licensure tests.
The office is also preparing the appropriate medal/award for PO2 Francisco Lindero Jr., who conceptualized this innovation to boost the morale of the PNP personnel. (Press release)
