GRACE
UNDER PRESSURE. Not even the pressure brought by
the decision of their sponsor to back out three weeks before
the parade stopped the Tribu Mangkokopras of Basak San Nicolas
from topping the free interpretation category of the Sinulog
grand parade.. (Sun.Star Cebu photo)

n
The Sinulog, a nine-day fiesta celebration in honor of Sto.
Niño, is now on its 25th year. The celebration basically
entails two major activities-the religious procession on a Saturday
and the grand street parade the next day.
n
Religious activities and the grand solemn procession are handled
by the Augustinian order.
n The
original organizers of the Sinulog thought of a "Sinulog
identity" that would distinguish it from other events
in the city or in the country. They didn't want to use the
image of the Sto. Niño, deeming it sacrilegious.
