SM City Pampanga holds PWD gab

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Taking pride as one of the biggest malls in the country, SM City Pampanga feels the need to provide fast and efficient service to persons with disabilities (PWDs) which, according to mall management, are “special customers” with special needs.

To address these needs, SM City Pampanga Public Relations officer Roselle Sarmiento over the weekend said that the mall will hold a seminar on the proper handling of PWD customers at 8 a.m. Monday at its Even Center. The seminar will be attended by the mall's security guards, janitorial personnel, mall tenants' personnel and mall administration employees.

“PWDs are still a potential market that we try to address. The sector presents itself as ready but untapped market. PWDs should be given more care and love by the business sector and should be made to feel that they are every bit as normal as ordinary mall goers,” Sarmiento said.

Among the topics to be discussed during the event are measures to take in making PWDs more at ease inside the mall, services to immobile individuals as welss as basic response to emergencies involving PWDs. Lecturers in today’s talks include PWD provincial project coordinator Antonietta Gomez, Special Education teacher Susan Cunanan and Pastor Tito Songco.

“We want our PWDs to get the best services possible. This lecture will also provide awareness among our SM employees on the needs PWDs,” Sarmiento said, stressing that SM strives to become more PWD friendly in terms of facilities.

Late last year, SM City Pampanga has implemented renovations to provide facilities like ramps, more comfort rooms and lanes for PWDs. (IOF)
