RCCP president Ricardo Yabut, along with dentists from the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) Angeles City Chapter, Philippine National Police, City Health Office of San Fernando and the Provincial Health Office, led the mission.

Yabut said the inmates were happy to avail of tooth extraction, free medicines among others during the half-day event held within the jail compound.

The medicines were donated by the Department of Health through the initiative of Regional Director Rio Magpantay and Rotarian Puring Bamba.

“The people here said that this is the first dental mission they have had in years. Some of us seem to forget that people inside jail and correctional facilities need also our help and most of the time basic social services to do reach them due to government neglect,” Yabut said.

Aside from the dental mission, the RCCP also distributed hundreds of soap bars and toiletries to the inmates. The toiletries were donated by members of the RCCP and through a vast network of donors.

“Aside from this mission, we hope to encourage other Rotary Clubs and civic welfare groups to help in caring for the health conditions of inmates here,” Yabut said, stressing that other medical and dental missions of RCCP would also be held here.

Yabut, who is also a Fourth District board member, said he would inform his colleagues about the condition of the inmates and the facilities that they need during the next Provincial Board session on Monday.
