ANGELES CITY -- City Councilor Ares Yabut confirmed that a province-wide clamor exists in support of any move to draft President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as candidate in the second congressional district of Pampanga.
Yabut, the lone challenger to the seat of Representative Carmelo Lazatin in the first district, also joined the swelling ranks of formal organizations and individuals in the province that have endorsed Arroyo's proposed bid for the House of Representatives.

In a press statement, Yabut said Angeles residents strongly support the plan to elect Arroyo to the House where she can continue her unfinished business in legislative reforms and pursue her ongoing development advocacy for Pampanga and Central Luzon.
The city councilor said the President's service to the nation extends beyond her tenure.
As a member of the House, Arroyo can concentrate on doing specific programs in the micro-level for the province while giving the best of her experience and wisdom in legislative reforms, according to Yabut.
He said the public clamor to inspire the President to go for a run in Congress is based on the overwhelming people's collective gratitude for the solid, visible, and enduring projects Arroyo had poured in Pampanga and Central Luzon.
In his visits to Mabalacat and Magalang towns, Yabut said he got a constant feedback - that Arroyo has still long and productive years ahead of her and should not consider a position as representative degrading after her status as the country's chief executive.
He asked residents of the first district to encourage and support Arroyo in whatever public endeavor she may decide to embark on. (RM)
