STA. RITA -- Second District Board Member Edna David facilitated the anti-rabies vaccination of some 400 household dogs in four barangays of this agricultural municipality recently.
The program, according to David, is part of her advocacy to prevent additional cases of rabies resulting from dog bites among rural towns in the province.

The anti-rabies vaccination teams formed by the board member swooped down on Barangays San Basilio, Diladila, San Matias and San Vicente.
David, who chairs the Provincial Committee on Health, said that the activity is supported by the province, which delivered an initial 40 vials of dog rabies vaccines. One vial is good for 10 dogs.
“Every month we receive calls for assistance from people who have been bitten by dogs. Usually one needs some four regular shots of human anti-rabies shots which costs some hundreds of pesos. We want to minimize such problem by going into the grassroots level and fight rabies through an anti-rabies vaccination program,” David said.
The Rotary Club of Central Pampanga and barangay officials have also helped in the advocacy.
In order to promote grassroots awareness on rabies, David, along with Rotarians, conducts regular orientation with local folks and canine owners. (IOF)
