1 dead, 2 injured in All Saints' Day shooting

ANGELES CITY -- A man was killed while two others were seriously injured in a shooting incident in Barangay Pulung Maragul here during the observance of All Saints' Day.

Police identified the fatality as Rogelio Lobo Navarro of purok 1, Sitio Maligaya in the said village.

Senior Superintendent Danilo Bautista, city police officer-in-charge, said Navarro and his brother Joel Lobo San Miguel were shot by one Ernesto Tansio Purificacion using a .38 caliber handgun.

Navarro and San Miguel reportedly had a squabble with Purificacion over a rubber hump, which the latter placed across the road in front of his store to slow down motorists passing by the village.

Bautista said the fight began when Navarro and San Miguel allegedly removed and burned the movable humps.

He said Navarro instantly died while San Miguel was seriously injured after the suspect shot them.

Purificacion, on the other hand, was also injured when relatives of the victims mauled him because of the incident.

The victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Bautista said Purificacion was placed under arrest while the case is still being investigated. (Reynaldo G. Navales)
