CMO cruises to 5th win

THE City Mayor's Office (CMO) cruised to its fifth straight win in the Inday Sara Cup Basketball Tournament after trampling the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor), 87-75, at the Almendras Gym Saturday night.

As in the previous games, the CMO dribblers leaned on the hot hands of Cristopher "Bong" Go, who scored 33 points in the game.

Go, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte's executive assistant, also paced CMO in scoring in the previous matches, mostly from the outside.

Marvin Mondigo added 15 and Ryan Alquizar had eight for CMO, which is now sporting a 5-0 slate and pacing the tournament presented by Davao City Vice Mayor Sara Duterte in coordination with the Sports Development Office.

Eric Tuadles scored 21 for the Pagcor team in a losing cause. Ric Baraquias added 17 for Pagcor, which suffered its first defeat.

Other results saw the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) beating the Davao City Water District (DCWD) in overtime, 115-107, and Muslim All-Stars downing Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), 91-83.

Mike Bantilan fired a game-high 46 points to lead the SP attack, while Jilian de Guzman added 28 markers. Pong Dizon paced DCWD in scoring with 26 points.

The Muslim All-Stars and IBP are now tied in the standings with their 3-1 win-loss cards.

The Muslim All-Stars earlier crushed SP behind the 20 points of Modger Sangsangan.

A total of eight teams are entered in the basketball tournament being sanctioned by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) regional director Regino "Boy" Cua.

The basketball tournament is a single round-robin affair, with the top four squads advancing to the crossover semifinals. Winners in the semifinals will then meet for the crown.
