UC gave tokens to their graduates who topped the board exams in the field of Commerce, Engineering, and Criminology courses: Rannel T. Gadiano, 5th placer in the Criminologist Licensure Examination; Belvin L. Armenion, 3rd placer in the CPA Board Examination; and Cesar M. Baron, Jr., 2nd placer in the Mechanical Engineering Licensure Examination;

Topnotchers of the Chief Marine Engineer Licensure Exams-written phase are Henry F. Loberanes, 1st placer, Keyhven J. Oyao, 4th placer, and Elmer N. Mendiola Jr., 10th placer.
Seventh placer in the Second Marine Engineer Licensure Exams-written phase is Christopher R. Aro.
“Without UC I could not reach the top,” said Cesar Baron when asked about his secret for successfully topping the board exam.
Engineering Department Dean Ma. Nila Sabal said that motivating the teachers has contributed to the success of the students and to the whole university. She said that if the teachers are motivated, this can reflect to their students who are motivated as well, which results to quality graduates.
Armenion and Baron both agreed that the incentives given by the university also urge them to excell in their field and top the board exam.
Also awarded during the event are the UC Dance Company for being one of the Best Performers amongst 27 countries in the 12th Busan International Trade Fair in South Korea, UC Athletes for being the Grand Champion for 14 straight years in the Milo Little Olympics, Paul John B. Gestas as one of the 2009 Ten Outstanding Students in the Philippines, Sajina Corp. as Grand Champion in the Mandaue Business Idol 2009; UCLM Team for being the winner in the 11th Intercollegiate Finance Competition, UCLM and UC METC with most number of International Scholars for Nautical, Naval Architecture, and Marine Engineering, UC College of Nursing (Banilad and LM) for ranking as one of the top 15 performing nursing schools in the country, UC Banilad College of Midwifery as 2nd Best Midwifery School in the country, and UC College of Law that ranked eighth in the Top Performing Law school in the country.
UC chancellor Candice Gotianuy said that the celebration is not only for the present achievers but also to acknowledge the older ones, who are the professors and the pioneers of the university. She said, “we are reaping from the past the good quality of UC today and we move forward to a better UC producing good productive citizens of this country.” (Joy Eva A. Bohol)
