Sky, Curamed rips foe in Friendship Cup

SKY Cable ripped Kaffe Klatsch, 92-74, while Curamed 2 drugged RAJ construction in bracket C and D action in the ongoing 21st Friendship Cup basketball invitational tournament at the UC gymnasium Friday night.

The cable providers earlier joined first day winner Mustangs in bracket C action after making big triples in the third period to break the game wide open after a hotly contested action in the first half.

After a 36-41 advantage by the coffee connoisseur, Sky Cable turned their offensive option beyond the arc, with Jay Dumpit and Rudy Vergara leading the charges for the cable providers, as it combined for eight triples to finally wrest the lead for good in the ball game.

"It's a good feeling to win your first game in the tournament especially in our bracket because it's a very tough contest out there," said Sky Cable's Migs Velarde.

Sky Cable outscored Kaffe Klatsch in the third and final quarters after trailing in the first half.

"When we have the bench playing well] it takes a lot of pressure off of us and other teams don't know where our attack is coming from. We definitely like the way we look right now," added Velarde.

In the other game, Curamed 2 relied on their starters to fashion out a lopsided win in bracket D, joining Minero and Golden Pine in the winners' column disposing a running RAJ construction team.

The pharmaceutical firm trailed by one at the close of the period then gallantly fought its way back in to the ball game to take control of the ball game at the end of the second quarter via a 33-29 lead.

Curamed then slowly pulled away in the third period after a 10-2 run which saw its biggest lead of the ball game at 49-32 with 4:30 left in the third quarter.

RAJ tried to pull the rug out of Curamed but their offense turned sour in the fourth period to suffer their first set back in as many games in the tournament organized by the Saint Louis University Boys High School batch' 80.
