ADDITIONAL screens to trap debris going to the tunnels of Baguio City camp lagoon should be installed to prevent flooding.
Around 10 screens costing around P1.5 million for the canals at the upper portion of the lagoon are needed to trap debris and prevent it from clogging the intake tunnel, said Councilor Isabelo Cosalan Jr. who proposed the allocation of the money.

The City Camp lagoon area is one of the hardest hit barangays at the height of Typhoon Pepeng (international codename: Parma). Accumulated garbage clogged the drainage tunnel, resulting in the flooding of the barangay.
The screens will be installed along tributaries and canals leading to the lagoon.
Cosalan also filed a separate resolution asking Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. to form a task force that will restudy the various options for the development of the City Camp lagoon area.
The task force’s main task is to recommend development plans for the area.
After its classification by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), as susceptible to ground subsidence, Cosalan said plans for the area need restudy.
The area was previously identified as a relocation site. (Rimaliza Opiña)
