Dole hands out negosyo kits



THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) will be giving 20 negosyo starter kits to select unemployed persons in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Dole-CAR Director Ana Dione said the negosyo starter kits will be composed of basic materials needed in simple jobs like hairdressing.

The Kabuhayan Starter Kit Program aims to help the poor and unemployed especially those belonging in special sectors like the out-of-school youth, indigenous peoples, parents of child laborers, the disabled, urban poor, elderly persons, displaced workers and others in the informal sector.

The project will also provide short period training on production skills with entrepreneurship and business management, handbook, provide livelihood tools and provide continuing business advisory and consultancy services at the Community Micro-Business Incubation Center.

The priority projects in the Kabuhayan starter kits are service oriented skills and simple house-to-house services.

These services include: massage, plumbing, cosmetology, electrical servicing, welding, car wash, appliance repair, upholstery, cellular phone services and native snack preparation.

Dole is also planning to hire out-of-school youths who have knowledge on computers to teach an appraisal course.

Out-of-school youths will teach seven students each at a rate of P25 per hour. The appreciation course will last for 22 hours.
