WNU XI nips USLS, drubs CPU in UNIGAMES


WEST Negros University posted another win over arch rival University of St. La Salle, 2-1, Monday in the elimination round of the men’s football competition of the ongoing 14th National University Games (Unigames) at the Central Philippine University field in Iloilo City.

The Wesnecans, reigning Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural & Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) champions, posted goals courtesy of midfielder Mark Ferrer in the 38th minute and Vince Braga in the 80th minute.

In women’s action, Southwestern University (2-0) defeated Rizal Technological Colleges (0-2), 21-25, 20-25, 25-18, 26-24, 16-14 in 1 hour and 55 minutes. Both matches were won in come-from-behind fashion, according to tournament manager Efren Timtiman. (HCV)
