NEGRENSE national boxer Mitchel Martinez goes for history on Thursday when she fights for the gold medal in the women's light welterweight boxing event of the 3rd Asian Indoor Games at Bah Ninh Gymnasium in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The other RP boxer going for the gold is Annie Albania.

Eight final bouts with the first fight starting 4 p.m. (Philippine time) highlight the close of the event, where a win by both Martinez and Albania will seal the Philippines best showing thus far in the tournament where it took one gold in 2005 in Bangkok as well as in the Macau edition in 2007 both from the sport of muay thai.
Martinez, the former national shot put champion from University of St. La Salle who was a 2005 Asian women's Boxing Championship gold medalist, scored a 13-9 win over local gbet Vui Nguyen thi in last Monday night's semi-finals and will face a Chinese opponent Thursday for the gold.
